3 Simple Ways To Keep Summer Blogging Fun
Summer is a special time for families to slow down and have fun together (and that means blogging too) This is our 1st summer in six years we have been home full-time in the US with no mission trips! I’m focusing my writing and projects on family, and if you’re like me, finding time to write (alone) is almost impossible to find! The kids keep me hopping, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
Let’s enjoy summer blogging together:
1. Keep your blogging consistent. If you can only find time to blog 2-3 times a week this summer, that’s okay, just stay consistent. The best way to lose your reader’s interest is being “out of town” for long periods of time and blogging too infrequently. I’m struggling with this, too. It’s a great idea to take some alone time (hide out in Starbucks) and write a few great posts to schedule throughout the month that focuses on your key topics. Another tip: invite guest bloggers to share on your blog.
2. Keep your blogging fun. Summer is the best time of year to share all the family fun with your readers. Personalizing your blog with photography and real life stuff is a great way to connect with other bloggers. One of my favorite bloggers, Big Mama tells the best stories and most of the time, it’s about her family and all the fun they have together. She keeps me laughing. You don’t have to blog about the heavy topics all the time, keep it light and short. Write about what you love. Don’t forget to keep your posts to 500 words and your summer readers will keep coming back for more.
3. Stay connected. The last thing you want to do is take a hiatus reading your favorite blogs. Summer is a busy time for moms, but when you find time during your day to stay connected, reading your favorite blog posts, don’t forget to interact. This is a great way to meet new bloggers that have the same interests you do (I assume you’re reading blogs you love.) When you read a blogger’s post, it’s like spending time at the pool chatting with a friend. When they share with you a funny story or something exciting happening in their life, or a big event, or even their favorite recipe… let them know what you think. If you have a few seconds, leave a comment. (I promise we appreciate when you do) One of the best ways I try to keep up is using Feedly. It helps me scan quickly through all my favorite blogs + titles, especially when I only have a few minutes between swim classes with Zoie and family activities.
I want to hear from you on subjects you want to hear more on the blog this summer. I’m working with my hubby and kids on some fun, family vlogs + activities + new blog updates coming soon. Also GUEST BLOGGERS are always welcome! Connect and email me on the blog.
I’d like to personally thank Andrea La Valleur-Purvis for fixing the broken theme features and uploading the new version this week! You’ve been the biggest gift for me as a blogger and friend! Thank you for keeping the blog running so smoothly!
Here’s what we’ve been up to the past few weeks.
