Want to hear more
of my story?
In 2016, I published my last blog post. I quit cold turkey. I walked away from eight years in the blog world.
Blogging was a huge part of my life and still makes me smile when I think about why I started writing in the first place. As a 40-something-mom of three kids, I poured my life out (real and raw) in my writing, recruiting others to join me on our adoption journey to Ethiopia. My Crazy Adoption blog was born the same year our beautiful daughter, Zoie Senait was born in 2008.
When I started blogging, it’s possible, the only regular visitor was my dad and definitely was the only one leaving comments on a daily basis. (Thanks dad!) It was my little place on earth to encourage and inspire others to simply love! Which, btw became the name of our non-profit.
Through Simply Love we built a playground in Haiti, provided the fatherless with hope, raised up families to foster and adopt, crowned children with hundreds of hand-made bows, visited orphans around the world, and ministered to the most vulnerable people groups sharing the good news of Jesus.
Blogging helped build relationships in Ethiopia, Uganda, Haiti, and Nicaragua, so when we sold our home, our family started a God adventure more than we could have dreamed. In 2012, my hubby & I put feet to faith and became full time missionaries serving vulnerable communities, and ministries who were in the trenches all around the world. Since then, we moved back to the US and now reside in Texas as marriage and family pastors, as well as fulfilling my dream of being orphan care director at our church … raising up families to foster and adopt, supporting with wraparound care.
2016 was the most difficult, challenging year of my life. We were transitioning from our home and church of 21 years, to a new state, new jobs, and new community. That same year, my beloved dad and best friend passed away and his loss was epic. My heart was broken and needed time to grieve and heal. It was a long process for me with so many changes coming at me simultaneously, but God is always faithful and never let me go. Pain is what grows us. The crushing and pruning makes us stronger and more compassionate.
Fast forward to 2023, God put on my heart a new desire to write again, sharing life together with you. I love community with like-hearted friends and giddy to re-connect with old friends and meet new ones too!
Now that you know where I’ve been and why I hit the pause button the past seven years, don’t worry, it’s all still here, all eight years of blogging (thank goodness for archives) and I hope you explore those treasures.
This is a fresh start and I want this space to inspire you through storytelling to equip you to live out your purpose and mission with an adventure!
Adventurers, get ready to trek through the craziness of life with me!
