    1. Corinne, you rock sister:) It breaks my heart to see the countries that are closed right now. We need to pray like an army that Guatemala & Vietnam open their doors wide for us!! Thanks for helping friends!

      xoxo

  2. I know India has only about 200+ adoptions in a year. So #9 on Corinne's comments is probably right. I would almost think Africa will pass China this year?! Your surprise sounds fun:)Sorry…not really helping, just agreeing with Corinne..lol.

  3. Hi Kari,

We just got our copy of "Adoptive Families" magazine. They listed the Top 10 countries for 2009 and the number of adoptions from each. Here you go:

    China-3000 adoptions

    Ethiopia-2275 adoptions

    Russia-1600 adoptions

    Korea-1050 adoptions

    Guatemala-750 adoptions

    Ukraine-600 adoptions

    Vietnam-480 adoptions

    Haiti-330 adoptions

    Kazakhstan-295 adoptions

    India-275 adoptions (tie)

    Philippines 275 adoptions

    God bless,

    Heidi

  4. As an adoptive parent from "Africa" I find it interesting that "Africa" is the only listing that includes an entire "continent"! It is the second largest continent, with the second largest population!!

I am saying this in total jest!!

My kids are African, but they are also Liberian, and also American!!! They are amazing blessings!

An interesting book we have is called

    "Africa is not a Country"

So actually our African country (Liberia) is presently closed. I know Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda are open and maybe a few others whose adoption numbers are lower.

  5. I wonder why still peoples think Africa as a country…..that is so shame in the nowadays globalized world……Ethiopia is second in the list and hopefully will be first very soon, but wherever I browse they call it Africa. That doesn't sound good……….please let us update our old aged hard disk.
