  1. Currently reading Radical by David Platt and The Connected Child by Parvis. I'm looking forward to reading Mary Beth Chapman's book Choosing to See and Forgotten God by Francis Chan next. I have a long list of must reads!

  2. Just finished Hole in our Gosprl by Richard Stearns, CEO of World Vision. Great story of God going after a man's heart and career to further the Kingdom.

  3. I Shall Not Hate by Dr. Abuelaish. An incredible story of a man whose daughters were killed in Israeli-Palestinian violence and who now goes on to talk about peace.

  4. My Hearts At Home by Jill Savage, next on my list is Real Moms…Real Jesus by Jill as well. I've got a HUGE list, I'll have to add some of the other readers books too!

  5. In preparation for our next trip to Ethiopia, our whole team is reading two books: "Foreign to Familiar" and "When Helping Hurts: Alleviating Poverty Without Harming the Poor." I recommend "Foreign to Familiar" to anyone who is traveling out-of-country, or who is doing an international adoption–so helpful, and also a quick/easy read! "When Helping Hurts" is a must-read for anyone who is interested in missions or international aid work.

  6. I am reading Still Growing by Kirk Cameron, Radical by David Platt, and Younger Next Year for Women. I have others going but those are my focus right now.

    Fun post!

  7. I am reading Prepared and Waiting by Jim Corbett. It is a challenge to be the bride of Christ, waiting and preparing for His return.

  8. I'm reading Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, great book so far! My fiction book I'm reading is Who Do I Lean On which is Book 3 in the YadaYada House of Hope series by Neta Jackson. Great series!

  9. Just finished reading "Same Kind of Different as Me" by Ron Hall and Denver Moore – great story woven about a wealthy art dealer from Fort Worth and a homeless man from Louisiana. It touches on race, poverty, and God's power to heal…and sometimes not heal.

Just started reading "Hello, I Love You: Adventures in Adoptive Fatherhood" written by Ted Kluck. Written about a family who adopts two boys from Ukraine. Unique in that it's written from the Dad's point of view. Very well written, very funny!

  10. Well, I FINALLY finished "So Long Insecurity, by Beth Moore." Now I've just begun a book called "Dewey." It's a true story about a cat that was left in a book return slot at a library and how this cat ends up affecting the whole town. (I borrowed it from my daughter. :):)

  11. I'm reading Chris Seay's The Gospel According to Jesus.

I'm also an AP English Literature teacher, so I am reading Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor & Crime & Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. 🙂

  12. Hey, one of my readers told me she's reading your blog! So I figured I had to come on over. She also said you're giving away a mission trip, which doesn't sound like a typical gift. So does leaving a comment enter me into the contest? 🙂

  13. By the way, those of you readiing Radical, by David Platt…..AWESOME, AWESOME read.

I am currently reading Quaker Summer. I am almost finisheed with it. It is an amazing book. My summarization for this book is "Be the Change." I actually just posted about it yesterday on my blog at http://www.myraboins.blogspot.com.

  14. Wow, my to-read list is so long I don't know if I'll ever get to all of it! Right now I'm just reading some "fluffy" fiction to give my mind a break, but some of the books on my list are Parenting with Love and Logic, When Helping Hurts, Hunger for God by John Piper, Learning to Live Financially Free by Curt and Marybeth Whalen, A Heart Ablaze by John Bevere, and Your Girl by Vicki Courtney. Wish I had more time to read!

  15. I read Radical by David Platt this summer..omWORD…WOW!! Reading Fracis Chan's Crazy Love and Jesus Calling by Sarah Young..daily devo…awesome! (And there's a Jesus Calling for Kids that is SO AWESOME too!!!)

  16. Well, I second all the positive comments about David Platt and Francis Chan's books – they are life changing. Currently, I've changed course a little and I'm reading Made To Crave by Lysa TerKeurst. It's a Bible study on craving God instead of food (or whatever else is your "go-to" thing besides God). It's really good and has really changed my perspective on this weight loss issue I've been dealing with all my life. If you've tried everything else to curb your cravings and it doesn't work – try this.

  17. Am LOVING One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. Also, When Helping Hurts is rocking my world…it’s a practical look into how well-meaning people giving aid isn’t always what’s best. It’s giving me a great understanding of how to provide lasting help to people in need that ultimately empowers the people…making them self-sustaining rather than relying upon others for help. Great stuff!!!

  18. Having just returned from our Adoption trip to China – I am devouring everything I can find about China. I have come across some mind-bending books written about why so many Chinese mommas have no choice but to give up their baby girls! This has been a great resource for putting together the puzzle pieces of our new daughter's first few weeks of life and coming to grips with her abandonment story.

  19. I am reading Mountains Beyond Mountains–not Christian, but I have learned a lot about Haiti, tuberculosis & AIDS, and global health in general. Other books I'd recommend to this group: Too Small to Ignore (Stafford), Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle (Annan)–also about Haiti, and Dorie–the Girl Nobody Loved (VanStone). I reallllllly want to read Radical and so many of the books mentioned. Couldn't we have an alternate life dedicated to just reading? 😉
